Outdoor soccer captains' guide

We know how much work it is to captain a team, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you to get the job done. This guide will show you the ins and outs.

There are no games on the August long weekend. The semi-finals will be on Aug. 16 and the finals will be on Aug. 23. Any teams not in the finals will still be scheduled to play a game for fun.

Sign the waiver to play

Your teammates must sign the waiver to play! The league coordinator will be taking roll call before the game to note who attended; this is one of the COVID-19 guidelines and helps with contact tracing. Waiver link: https://airtable.com/shr794vrmMnzg3tsp

Important COVID-19 information

Update: As of July 11, 2021, the Government of Saskatchewan has lifted COVID-19 restrictions, so these guidelines no longer apply.

Note: COVID-19 guidelines are subject to change. Unlike last year, we don't need to create cohorts, you may invite subs to play, and spectators are allowed. Subs must sign a waiver to play, and spectators must provide a name and phone number for contact tracing purposes.

  • Players must not arrive more than 5-10 minutes before the start of the game. If you start congregating, the league coordinator may ask you to return to your vehicle.

  • No handshakes, high fives or after-game cheers. Congratulatory gestures, such as high fives and handshakes, are not permitted.

  • Do not play if you are feeling unwell. Players who are sick or symptomatic must not participate.

Rainout Policy

Outdoor leagues run rain or shine unless there is standing water. Play Sask will inform captains of cancellations due to extreme weather two hours before the start of the game.
